We live in a world that constantly tells us to want more — more success, more love, more peace, more money, more recognition. But before reaching for the next thing, there’s quiet power in pausing to give thanks for what already is. What we already have in the here and now.
My dear mentor Arram, always told me the fastest way to shift one’s state and move into the energy of abundance was to stop and look about the house. Give thanks for the food in the fridge, thanks for the loose change in your purse, thanks for the cozy bed, thanks for the water flowing out the tap and so on. Just being grateful for the simple things, the ‘basics’ if you will. This forms a baseline from which more can flow into your life – but you got to be appreciative of what you already have,
Gratitude shifts your energy. It reminds you that you’re not starting from lack, but from abundance. Every breath, every lesson, every challenge, every victory, and even every setback has shaped who you are right now. When you truly see how much you already have, the need to chase what’s next softens — and ironically, that’s when more starts to flow!
Being thankful first doesn’t mean settling. It means honoring the journey so far, recognizing the blessings that once were prayers, and acknowledging that life is already giving to you in countless ways.
So before you ask for anything more, take a moment to pause and to whisper:
“Thank you — for all that I have, all that I’ve learned, and all that’s still unfolding.”
From that space of gratitude, every next step becomes a gift, not a grasp.
